The correct answer to last week’s trivia question: The fundamental concept in Lean thinking that emphasizes the elimination of waste and the continuous pursuit of perfection in processes is called "Kaizen."

• Kaizen, which is a Japanese term meaning "change for the better" or "continuous improvement," focuses on making incremental improvements to processes, products, or services over time. It involves identifying and eliminating waste (or "Muda" in Japanese) in all forms, including overproduction, waiting, unnecessary transportation, overprocessing, excess inventory, defects, and underutilized talent.

  By implementing Kaizen principles, organizations strive for continuous improvement and seek to create a culture of innovation, efficiency, and excellence.
